Unclaimed Deposits
According to circular issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on March 21, 2014, banks were notified about the establishment of the Depositor Education and Awareness Fund Scheme, 2014. According to this directive, any funds held in accounts with banks in India that have not been accessed or operated for a period of ten years, or any deposits or amounts that have remained unclaimed for more than ten years, must be transferred to the Depositor Education and Awareness Fund within three months after the expiration of the ten-year period.
In accordance with RBI's instructions, banks have been instructed to publish a list of dormant accounts and unclaimed deposits that have been inactive or dormant for ten years or longer on their respective websites.
To claim your unclaimed deposit account, kindly visit your branch (branch where you have the account) with the following documents along with self-attested copy of the same:
- Any one of the Officially Valid Documents i.e. AADHAR card, Election card, Driving License, Passport
- PAN Card
- A Dormant reactivation letter for claiming your funds from unclaimed deposit mentioning the details of the account
- For Term Deposit Accounts Original Term Deposit Receipts / Indemnity Bond (if Original receipt is not available with customer)
